Fitness Friday | Part 1: Dual Task Training for Parkinson’s
Josefa M. Domingos, PT, MSc and John M Dean, MA CCC-SLP
Workout differently by combining voice, movement, and cognition in a fun, immersive, dual-task Parkinson’s exercise experience, co-led by physical therapist Josefa Domingos and speech language pathologist John Dean of Dual Task for Parkinson’s.com. This program is an excellent way to strengthen your cognitive abilities alongside big movements and cardio while reinforcing using a loud voice. The program warms up slowly with everyday physical challenges alongside a cognitive attentional twist and continues to progress throughout the session until you are challenging yourself out of your comfort zone with each new activity. Although no equipment is necessary for today’s class, please keep a bottle of water nearby. You may also wish to consider keeping a chair within reach in case you wish to do any of the activities in the seated position. Enjoy the session!
