Balance and Fall Prevention with Healthy Aging Physical Therapy

Discover Our Comprehensive Balance and Fall Prevention Program

Are you or a loved one concerned about balance issues or the risk of falling? At Healthy Aging, we specialize in empowering older adults and their families with effective solutions through our Balance and Fall Prevention Program.

A Collaborative Approach to Safety

Our unique program combines the expertise of both physical therapists (PTs) and occupational therapists (OTs) to provide personalized care tailored to your specific needs. We understand the importance of addressing the root cause of balance impairments, and our team is dedicated to helping you regain confidence in your mobility.

Specialized Care for Balance and Falls

Our experienced physical therapists employ evidence-based techniques to improve strength, coordination, and balance control, reducing the risk of falls and enhancing overall stability. Whether you've experienced a fall or want to proactively address balance concerns, our program offers tailored solutions to meet your goals. Our approach to balance training is evidenced-based and comprehensive. We’ve developed our Fall Prevention education based on the CDC STEADI Program (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths & Injuries) which helps to effectively identify and address your personal risk factors for falls, and the OTAGO Balance Protocol, which has been show to reduce the risk of falls up by to 40% when performed consistently. Our therapists will work with you both to improve your postural stability (ability to stand still) and your reactive balance (ability to respond effectively when you lose your balance). We also work on your fall preparedness and practice safe-landing strategies, designed to help you fall SAFELY if you do lose your balance to reduce your risk of fracture or injury.

Home Safety Assessments and Occupational Therapy for Falls Risk Reduction

While improving your balance is important, it can be just as critical to improve your home safety. Our occupational therapists conduct thorough home safety assessments and work with you to identify and modify potential hazards to improve your safety at home. They will also work with you on energy conservation and pacing strategies and on self-care and household activities like showering, toileting, dressing, cooking and cleaning safely and to make sure you are doing these tasks safely and efficiently to further reduce your fall risk.
