Comprehensive Parkinson's Disease Physical and Occupational Therapy
At Healthy Aging Physical Therapy, we specialize in personalized physical and occupational therapy solutions tailored to individuals with Parkinson's Disease, addressing their needs at every stage of their journey. Our dedicated team of therapists comprehends the unique challenges presented by Parkinson's and is devoted to enriching your quality of life through precise therapy interventions.
From the moment of diagnosis onward, integrating movement and exercise into your disease management regimen is crucial. Consistent exercise not only boosts dopamine release but also enhances overall brain function. Engaging in appropriate movement and exercise not only enhances your sense of well-being but also mitigates the severity of both the motor (such as tremor, postural instability, dyskinesias, bradykinesia, freezing of gait) and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Research indicates that regular exercise can also improve cognition in individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and increase their survival rate.
Therapy Solutions for Every Stage of Parkinson’s Disease
Early Stage Parkinson's Disease:
In the early stages of Parkinson's Disease, our therapy focuses on slowing the progression of symptoms and maximizing functional abilities. Through a combination of exercise programs, gait training, balance exercises, and coordination drills, we aim to maintain mobility, independence, and confidence in daily activities. Our holistic approach integrates evidence-based techniques to address motor symptoms and promote neuroplasticity, ensuring you remain proactive in managing your condition.
Mid Stage Parkinson's Disease:
As Parkinson's progresses, so do its challenges. In the mid-stage, our therapy evolves to address more complex motor and non-motor symptoms such as rigidity, freezing of gait, and cognitive changes. Our skilled therapists employ specialized techniques including PWR!Moves™ to optimize movement patterns, enhance muscle strength, and mitigate falls risk. Additionally, cognitive rehabilitation strategies and adaptive equipment recommendations are integrated to support cognitive function and facilitate independent living.
Late Stage Parkinson's Disease:
Even in the late stages of Parkinson's Disease, therapy plays a pivotal role in maintaining quality of life and managing symptoms effectively. Our compassionate team focuses on preserving mobility, preventing contractures, and managing pain through tailored exercise programs and manual therapy techniques. We collaborate closely with caregivers to implement safe mobility strategies and ensure a supportive home environment. Palliative care approaches are also incorporated to alleviate discomfort and enhance overall well-being, emphasizing dignity and comfort in every session.
