Strong Bones: Osteoporosis Prevention and Management by Dr. Katie Wadland, Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist, PT, DPT

The Healthy Aging Workshop is a 7 week lecture series presented by Dr. Katie Wadland, Geriatric Clinical Specialist. You may partcipate in all or some of the lectures, please register for each lecture you will attend at www.jenkscenter.org  Each week will foucs on a new topic. This week you will learn how 1 in 3 women will experience an Osteoporotic Fracture in their lifetime and fractures like these are associated with decline in function, and unfortunately, early death. However, about half of these fractures can be prevented with appropriate treatment, which includes weight bearing exercise and strength training. This talk gives listeners a primer on Osteoporosis prevention and management and provides a groundwork to use movement as medicine to slow bone loss and prevent fractures for anyone at risk for this disease.
