Strong Bones Virtual Fitness Class

With bone density peaking at 35 years old, we all experience progressive bone loss at a rate of about 1%, per year, as we age. With 43% of adults over the age of 65 either Osteopenic or Osteoporotic, about one third of these individuals will experience an Osteoporotic fracture in their lifetimes. However, this progressive weakening of bone can be either accelerated, or decelerated, through our lifestyle choices, by how we eat and by how we choose to move and exercise. This 8-Week Exercise and Education Series, taught by Physical Therapist and Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist, Katie Wadland of Healthy Aging Physical Therapy, will give you the tools you need to better understand what you can do to maintain your bone density, slow bone loss and prevent osteoporosis-related fractures through lifestyle change, by making the best nutritional choices and through the right exercise and activity. Classes will be offered virtually via Zoom Wednesdays from 9-10:00AM from November 3rd-December 22nd. Bands like these (Amazon.com: Zacro Pull up Assist Bands) will be utilized during class; please also have available a solid chair, a pair of sneakers and a bottle of water for each class. While exercise modifications will be offered throughout the class, there will be exercises performed on the ground so it will be expected you can get on and off the floor independently.
