Power in the Park
Pop-Up Park Walks for People with Parkinson’s
WELCOME!
Join a Power in the Park physical therapist for a socially-distanced Park Walk and Meet-Up. Movement and Exercise are some the greatest tools we can use to take Power over Parkinson’s Disease - and social engagement and community is next on the list.
We’ll start each Meet Up with a Health and Wellness Tip or Topic from one of our physical therapist group leaders, followed by a PWR! Moves or BIG/LSVT -Inspired Warm Up. We’ll take a 15-30 minute socially-distanced walk, then meet up again for some more advanced walking drills before we finish with a group stretch. Many walks are looped or at a track, so don’t stress if you are afraid you’ll slow down the crowd!
As Parkinson’s-experienced physical therapists, we understand and support people at all stages of disease and disability and will work with you to make this experience successful and enjoyable for everyone.
All walks are free of charge (or $10 drop-in rate TBD) Each participant must sign a waiver to attend, and be able to either walk safely, outdoors (rollators, walkers, canes or poles okay!) or attend with a caregiver or family member for support. If you are a wheelchair-user, feel free to attend if you can navigate outdoor terrain on your own, or with assist. Please bring a bottle of water, face-mask and comfortable pair of sneakers. Spouses, Children, Grandchildren, well-behaved pups and other special-guests welcome.
